The importance of diversity in game design with Jet Vellinga
29:38
The next guest on our podcast for the Gaming week is Jet Vellinga, a writer, narrative designer, and historian with graduate degrees in Classics and Ancient Civilisations (Leiden University) and Game Design (New York University's Game Center) . She utilises games as a medium to explore social structures and civilisations of both the past and the present, placing games in the broader spectrum of interactive performative acts such as rituals, immersive theatre, festivals, and dance. She specialises in world building, narrative design, and environmental storytelling. Her Game Center graduate thesis “Chronicles of the Sea” explores the possibilities of telling historical narratives by combining museology with embedded language puzzles. She currently teaches at University of East London.
In this episode, we discuss her background, how she got into the industry and her current projects, as well as we cover her hopes and predictions for the future of Gaming and her own projects.
Each week we are releasing an episode in the field of either Metaverse/Gaming, Web3/Crypto/Blockchain, AI or XR. In case we have an extra Tuesday in a month, we have a guest from the Creative industries. Tune in, there are more amazing guests and stories to come up in the future.
